| I was born and raised in Detroit and drew since the age of four. After graduating from high school, I apprenticed in commercial art studios and went on to build a successful career as an illustrator. My work has been published in TIME, NEWSWEEK. FORTUNE and other books and publications. For ten years I taught illustration at the Center for Creative Studies while at the same time freelancing and experimenting with fine art. Giving up commercial art has freed me of restrictions, direction, and deadlines, and I've never been happier. I enjoy working in all mediums, especially watercolor. Portraits are my favorite subject matter and second are landscapes, which I have the added pleasure of painting along with a great group - the Michigan Plein Air Painters. |
