| Art has been a life long journey for me, having been encouraged by my parents at an early age. My favorite mediums to work in are oils and watercolors. I also find great satisfaction in printmaking as another artistic expression. When painting plein air, I am not trying to render an exact copy of what I am seeing. Instead, I am trying to capture the connection I feel with the subject and the essence of the moment. I then want to share that experience with the viewer. To accomplish this, I simplify and just go for it. I have always loved color and am fascinated by the effect it has on us. Because of this, I sometimes like to use colors that would not be expected. I believe you can have more of an emotional response to your work by doing this. The artists who have influenced me the most are the impressionists, the fauves, and most recently America's leading colorist, Wolf Kahn. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
